Decanter includes Casa Marin and De Martino in list of 17 Chilean wines to excite the palate

2 wines from Casa Marin and De Martino respectively have made it onto a list of  17 top palate-stimulating Chilean wines compiled by Peter Richards MW for Decanter magazine.

Chilean winemakers were described as “adventurous winemakers who are blazing a brave, exciting – and refreshing – trail that will make the rest of the world take note” in the article, and the talents at these Wine Source Chile member vineyards certainly belong in that category.

Casa Marin, Miramar Vineyard Riesling, San Antonio 2010

“There’s an almost Austrian elegance to this Riesling: it’s broad but grounded, with toasty lime and effortless mineral refinement.” 18.5pts/20 (95/100pts)

Casa Marin, Laurel Sauvignon Blanc, San Antonio 2010

“Vigorous, exuberant and beguiling, this fiercely individual Sauvignon is succulent and utterly invigorating.”
18pts/20 (93/100pts)

De Martino, Viejas Tinajas Cinsault, Itata 2011

“Made in large earthenware jars, with minimal intervention, it is unadorned and beautiful for it – crunchy and utterly moreish.”

17.5pts/20 (91/100pts)

De Martino, Reserva Legado Carmenere, Maipo 2011

“Encapsulating De Martino’s new direction, this Carmenere is vibrant and well judged. It’s characterful, typical, but not overwhelming.”

17pts/20 (90/100pts)
