Aurelio Montes & Mario Pablo Silva appointed Vice-Presidents by Vinos de Chile to strengthen the Chilean Wine Industry Strategy 2020

Tuesday 18th Jun, 2013

In the latest meeting of the Directors of the Chilean winery trade association Vinos de Chile, an important decision was taken to create two Vice President roles in the board to strengthen the Chilean wine industry strategy towards 2020.

With the aim to create greater specialization and focus in the Chilean wine strategy nationally and internationally, Vinos de Chile approved the appointment of two Vice-Presidents, assigning Aurelio Montes (Montes Vineyards) as Vice-President International, and Mario Pablo Silva (Viña Casa Silva) as Vice-President Trade.

The new corporate structure will on one hand support the President of Vinos de Chile, René Araneda during the next two years, in addition to further strengthening of Chilean wines in its export markets and grant the two Vice-presidents a more active role in accelerating the wine industry strategic plans to be achieved by 2020.

According to René Araneda, given the complex scenario for exporters, the new structure will allow the Chilean wine industry more efficiency and enable them to better focus on their resources.  Arenada commented that the role of Aurelio Montes is important to further strengthen the image of Chilean wines abroad and increasing the visibility of the industry in key foreign markets. Whilst Mario Pablo Silva, with his experience and vision will enable them to realise the goals that they have set as a sector.

Aurelio Montes joined the Board of Directors of Vinos de Chile in April this year, while Mario Pablo has been the director of the association since 2009 and Vice-President of the association the past two years.

The current members of the the Board of Directors of Vinos de Chile are Alfonso Undurraga (Viña Koyle) as the Treasurer, Silvio Rostagno (Viña Santa Rita), Eduardo Chadwick (Viña Errázuriz), Thomas Domeyko (Viña Concha y Toro), Ernesto Müller (Viña Undurraga) and Daniel Vicuña (Viña Veramonte).

The trade association Vinos de Chile was founded in 2007 with the objective to unify the forces of the Chilean wine trade  previously represented by Viñas de Chile A.G. and ChileVid A.G.
