Petit Verdot

Description: Powerful characteristics, it has great colour and it is highly tannic making it ideal for blending but rarely used as a single varietal. 

Origin: South West France.

Hectares: 629 ha

Requirements: Flourishing in warm climates. Gravelly soils.

Valleys: Curico.

Tasting notes: 

Colour: Deep dark ruby red to inky black.

Aromas: vanilla, smoke, cedar even tar.

Palate: Dark fruits,black  berries and cherries. Strong tannic structure.

Pairing: Given concentration and huge tannin structure pair with foods with plenty of weight. 

  • Rich foods with plenty of fats and proteins.
  • Well aged cheeses such as stilton
  • Rich cuts of red meat
  • Game
