Description: Not very widely planted, often used for blending and making sweet wines. Also apt for barrel fermentation and ageing.

Requirements: Cool climate with sunshine during the day. Gravelly clayish soils.

Tasting notes: 

Colour: From yellow gold to old gold

Aromas: Typically honey tones, red apple, pears, apricots and vanilla.

Palate: Dry, lemons, apples, pears, apricot grass vanilla tones.

Pairing: The dry aromatic flavours of Gewürztraminer are a great accompaniment to: 

  • Fish
  • Shell fish
  • Japanese food.
